Lyric Analysis

As mentioned earlier on, the song is about a girl moving on. With this fact, it could really inspire us for the storyboard, and storyline of the music video that we are going to produce. This opens up different ideas for the storyline, whereas before, we thought it was about the guy leaving to go to College. But instead, its about a girl moving away. He also sings about, the relationship still being there when they both meet another time in the future, and that he doesn't want to lose her because of the distance.

Although Chase Coy said the lyrics are meant to be about a girl leaving the lyrics of the song show more of a narrative of the singer leaving.

"One more year and I'll be heading out on my own"

"I don't wanna go"

This means we could the story as the girl leaving or the guy leaving. At least this way we can explore the idea of different narratives.

Idea behind the song 'All those nights'

Originally our group tried figuring out the story behind the lyrics and meaning of the song. We initailly agreed that Chase Coy was singing about moving on with his life and not wanting to leave back the good memories he shared with his lover. So that itself gave us a backbone to the storyline we are gonna potray in the music video.

But later today after looking at Chase Coys fanbase on facebook i realised he tries communicates with his fans as often as he can when he isn't on tour or working. So i left a comment on his facebook aking for information about his inspiration for the song we're working on and hoping for an answer.





















I later on had a response from him Coy himself saying the story is about a girl moving on with her life. so we got it the other way round. This helps us build a better and more accurate story to the song itself

Basement Music

Chase Coy recorded his songs in his basement at the start of his career. He is known on Youtube as either 'Chase Coy' or 'Dear Juliet'. He has branched out onto all types of networking sites to become more known and get a wider spread of audience fanbase.

Other singer/songwriters that started off in their basement recording onto the internet:

Skye Sweetnam recorded her first album in her friends basement. She now uses recording studios but it worked as a way to get into the business.

Sandi Thom started off recording live gigs online. Creating a fanbase she was signed and has now made it into the business so well that she is going unsigned for her next album.

In my opinion this is the best way to get into the business, by working for it. Xfactor has destroyed the idea of a music star. That's why there has been so many one hit wonders that come out of the show and not many go on to sell many records.

Research Into Existing Media

'Going the distance' is a story about a couple that start a relationship but one of them has to leave. They decide to keep a long-distance relationship and shuttle back and forth. This is similar to the idea we had for a video.

'High school musical 3' is also a story where a couple are going off in seperate directions (College) but want to keep their relationship together. They choose to keep the relationship together as they will shuttle back and forth to each other.

Album Cover

This is Chase Coy's own album cover for his latest album 'Picturesque'. It is very much a typically singer/songwriter style of a cover. Its natural settings with the artist in the image.

Looking at other singer/songwriter albums we can see their outlook on album covers.

As we can see they show themselves in the images.
We can see an older singer/songwrites cover, it's chilled and in a natural setting similar to chase coys. Shania Twain is the only one looking at the camera.

Sandi Thom's album cover looks and feels relaxed and fun. She is smiling and acting like a young adult. This cover is more modern than the others and its visible in the way its presented. She is looking away from the camera, a common part of singer/songwriter covers.

In John Mayers album cover he is holding a guitar, another common conception to singer/songwriters photographs. The music plays a strong importance in the song so they often include the instrument with the artist.

Chase Coy

We decided to use Chase Coy for our music video. We are going to be using a song by him called 'All those nights'. We liked this song because it's about leaving for university and hoping a relationship can stay strong while they go their seperate ways.

We also feel we can create a music video to go well with the song choice. Singer/songwriters are normal literally with their music video, so we might use this idea when we produce our video.

Confirmation

We received two replys out of the various people we asked. One of which was a rock band called 'Girls love ponies'.

Girls Love Ponies were a band from the midlands and consided of band members:

The other person in which we got an E-mail from was 'Chase Coy'.
Chase's music is what we were looking for originally. He is an acoustic style singer/songwriter.

Music Search

Trying to find a soundtrack for our music video wasn't easy. We had this idea of producing a singer/songwriter video and sent our requests on Myspace, Facebook and Youtube.

We spent alot of time looking at 'We are the in crowd'. Although they are signed it was only recent and they still use myspace. We had our hopes up thinking we could use their song 'For the win' but the acoustic version.

Unfortunately, none of the band members have been able to reply to our messages and so we can no long use this track.
